Chopped Chicken, Burgers and Brisket!

What’s on the Menu for 2027?

From one little tent to an outdoor kitchen with a following, QP Doll shares the love behind the food at Beats & Bars Barbecue.

For me, the food story at Beats & Bars Barbecue started under one little 10-by-10 tent.

I’m QP—QP Doll—wife, crafter, and the chef behind Beats & Bars Barbecue. Kim and I already had a grill. Then we went out and bought a griddle, and from there, I just started creating.

The Beats & Bars Barbecue Burger

One of the first things I made was my burger. And when I say I made it, I mean I made it. I ground my own beef, cut up all my vegetables, mixed some of my seasonings from scratch, and put a whole lot of love into that burger.

My brother and friend Michael Hughley tasted it and named it the “Crack Burger” because he said it was just that good! LOL. We have since retired that name—a little extreme—and today it is proudly known as the Beats & Bars Barbecue Burger.

That burger has grown right along with the event. It has cheese and a beautiful mix of vegetables: cabbage, carrots, lettuce, tomatoes, and onions. Some cooked, some fresh. Every year, I find myself adding something, changing something, or thinking, “What can QP do next?”

For our fifth anniversary in 2027, I have a special version coming.

Menu Note

We’re Not Chicken, We Just Don’t Want Beef

Every year somebody asks if “chopped chicken” means that’s all we’re serving. Baby, we’ve got vegetarian plates, sweet potato bake, and whatever surprise I’m cooking up for year five—it just didn’t fit in a headline. So no beef here, only love. There’s always room for one more plate, and one more idea for next year’s menu.

Baby, That Brisket!

Over the years, the menu grew. We added chopped chicken, chicken quarters, sweet potato bake, vegan dishes, and all kinds of good stuff.

In 2026, I even tried whole crabs. They did okay, but I’m not sure they’re getting invited back! I’m ready to try something new.

And then there is my brisket.

Guests gathering at the outdoor kitchen

Baby, that brisket has become an event all by itself. People start gathering around the outdoor kitchen, asking when it’s going to be ready. Watching, smelling, and waiting.

Seeing that kind of excitement over something I cooked with my own hands is a beautiful feeling. One of my favorite things is watching somebody get their plate and seeing their face after that first bite.

That little look tells me everything I need to know.

When You Come to Our Home, Feel at Home

Hip Hop is my husband’s whole world. Watching our friends, family, artists, and supporters come to our home to celebrate this culture with him means everything to me.

My part is making sure that when you come to our home, you feel at home.

QP at the outdoor kitchen

I want you to eat, laugh, relax, enjoy the music, and feel welcomed. Cooking for Beats & Bars brings my heart joy because I get to help create that feeling, plate by plate.

Kim completely rebuilt my outdoor kitchen in 2026 so I could have more room and, of course, more toys. Whether I’m cooking, crafting, designing, or creating something with my hands, they are all toys to me!

Cooking is a craft. Thinking up a dish, working out the flavors, and watching people enjoy it gives me the same kind of joy as anything else I create.

And I know it makes my husband happy when he sees people gathering around me, embracing what I bring to Beats & Bars too.

Five Years—and a Few Surprises

Now here we are, getting ready for our fifth anniversary.

Five years! That is a milestone, and I don’t take it lightly. I think about that first 10-by-10 tent, that griddle, that first burger, and all the people who have eaten at our home since then. It makes me smile.

We have some heavy-hitting things coming out of that outdoor kitchen for 2027, and QP has a few surprises up her sleeve. You’ll be seeing food previews as we get closer, and who knows—I might even let one of my recipes slip out.

Maybe. LOL.

To everybody who has eaten with us, supported us, complimented the food, waited patiently for that brisket, or come back for another plate: thank you. You are part of this story too.

Here’s to five years of Beats, Bars, barbecue, Hip Hop, family, friendship, and feeding people with love.

Stay tuned. Peace, you guys.
